Lyme Disease most certainly can cause generalized Neuropathy and/or Infectious Encephalopathy (otherwise known to the professionals as "Squash rot"). Irene was most-definitely demonstrating some pre-psychotic mood fluctuations one particularly severe episode of a sort of Manic Fugue (when she was racing about the place, like Donna Rice on speed). I cannot believe that the show's producers chose to emphasize conspicously marketing-driven incident (Irene getting slapped... for those who cannot deduce) and, even in the light of the horrible tragedy that Lindsey experienced, did not see the obvious indication of suicide risk that Irene was demonstrating (she was profoundly erratic, near psychotic at times, unquestionably confused and depressed, and she was compelled to "clean things up" and "tie up loose ends" even before she decided to leave the show. Also she was reluctant to engage anyone in any sort of new connection... tending to push people away rather than respond to anyone's offer of support). No, MTV selected to do a quick PSA on Lyme disease and drop it while they played around with the unanswered question of Stephen's sexual orientation (I'd be willing to bet that the so called "therapist" that Stephen was set up with, had other motives for suggesting that he wear the blonde wig all the next day, I wonder if this was obvious to Stephen?). Finally, did I have a wierd sort of hallucinating seizure or did David and/or Nathan not assault two guys just outside of a bar not long before the dreadful queen-like slap? Hmmmm... violence absolutely not tolerated huh? That's interesting!
