i have to say that i don't agree with this website. i've watched the real world for the last four seasons and i think it's awesome. i think the people whp put this website up were just rejected from the real world so they want to dis it. they're just jealous that they're not on the show! anyways, i just wanted to let everyone know that it doesn't suck and that i like the new seattle show. it's awesome! oh! and the guys look good too!

So has anyone else in Seattle listened to the RWers radio show "Dead Air"? It's on Monday - Wednesday 12am - 2pm on KNDD 107.7. Rebecca (apperantly using the stage name "Lindsay") does a pretty good job as the lead DJ, Janet and Irene are laughable. So far I've heard spots from Steven and Nate, who do a fairly good job in their roles. BTW, for a laugh, give them a call and mention "The Real World", then see how long it takes before you're suddenly hung up on.

The Phone # is 206-421-1077, call between 12am and 2am PDT to talk to The Real World 7 cast! :)

Why Seattle dislikes the Real World

Seattle has taken a dislike to the Real World for a few reasons. One being, the premise of the show is inherently disingenuous. How can anyone say they are filming them living their lives when they are constantly surrounded by a camera crew, their phones are tapped and everyone behaves differently on camera. Not to mention MTV is such a canonized entity in American culture that there must think they are the absolute stars of the city. Apart from that, there have been a lot of incidents where they thought they should be treated like royalty. One of them showed for an intern interview at the Seattle Weekly and didnt feel she had to bring a resume, writing samples or anything. She thought she'd just get the job or assumed it was set up by MTV in advance. Needless to say the Weekly didnt give a crap and told her to come back when she could prove she could write. Plus, Seattle is sick of people leeching off the "fame and hipness" Seattle supposedly has. And Seattle hates being pigeon-holed as some grunge-fest, rainy town, which MTV has catered to and fostered since day one. Seattle is not a product and refuses to be treated as such. That's about it.

The cast is working at local radio station KNDD 107.7. They are reportedly receiving a stipend to work as a "modulator", an intern position that is normally unpaid. Go figure.

While I haven't heard of any "shouting down" of the cast, I have heard of numerous incidents where the crew gets into people's faces and otherwise incoveniences them. When that happens, people in this town seem to be unafraid to vocalize their annoyance. I guess it's an even trade: They get their lives disrupted by the show, so they disrupt the show, quid pro quo.
